From the North
  • Take I-93 South to Boston.
  • Take exit 18, Storrow Drive west.
  • Take Storrow Drive / MA-3 North exit
  • Follow Storrow Drive West with the Charles River on your right.
  • The Hatch Shell will be on the right along the Charles River just before the Arthur Fiedler footbridge (small orange overpass) and the Copley Square exit.

From the South
  • Take I-93 North to Boston.
  • Take exit 18, Storrow Drive west.
  • Take Storrow Drive / MA-3 North exit (right at fork).
  • Follow Storrow Drive West with the Charles River on your right.
  • The Hatch Shell will be on the right along the Charles River.

From the West
  • Take I-90 East to Boston.
  • Take exit 131 toward Cambridge.
  • Merge onto Cambridge St.
  • Turn right onto Memorial Drive keeping left
  • Take left lane ramp to Downtown/Govt Center
  • Take right on Longfellow Bridge (MA-3 N)
  • Keep right, follow to merge on Storrow Drive / MA-28 South
  • Follow Storrow Drive West with the Charles River on your right.
  • The Hatch Shell will be on the right along the Charles River just before the Arthur Fiedler footbridge (small orange overpass) and the Copley Square exit.

From the East
  • Take US-1 towards Boston.
  • Take exit 18, Storrow Drive west.
  • Take Storrow Drive / MA-3 North exit (right at fork).
  • Follow Storrow Drive West with the Charles River on your right.
  • The Hatch Shell will be on the right along the Charles River.

MBTA Commuter Rail - T
  • The commuter rail is a favorable alternative to driving and parking for Boston events.
  • The MBTA provides extra bus and subway service on July 4th. You may wish to buy passes in advance.
    A one day pass entitles riders unlimited travel on the Blue, Green, Orange, and Red lines, all local buses, zones 1A and 1B of the commuter rail system, and inner harbor ferries.

MBTA Subway
  • Red Line: exit at the Charles/MGH stop and cross the Arthur Fiedler footbridge to the Esplanade.
  • Green Line: exit at the Arlington stop, walk up Arlington Street towards the Charles River, and cross the Arthur Fiedler footbridge to the Esplanade.
